Dental Cleanings & Exams

X-Rays, Cleanings, & Exams

Dental cleanings and exams are the most important treatment we offer here at West Road Dental. Our experienced, friendly hygienists will do a thorough job accessing your oral health and hygiene while providing you with a thorough and comfortable dental cleaning.

Dr. Lepow, Dr. Cavazos and Dr. Ling use this time to examine your mouth for any decay, defects, or abnormalities with cavity detecting x-rays, visual exam, and CT scan if necessary.

Our conservative approach will save you money when you consistently come to your recommended hygiene appointments. We can catch decay or fractures early and restore with a simple filling or crown, while when you wait to give us the opportunity to diagnosis these issues, it could result in an extraction or more complicated procedure. It’s true when we tell you the longer you wait to address a dental issue, the more expensive it gets.

Schedule a visit with our hygiene team by calling our office at 713-937-0050. These examinations will include digital X-rays every 6 month to every year, dependent on your individual health and needs, to clean and polish your teeth and our needs. These X-rays allow our dentists to view detailed images of your teeth beneath your gums, which helps our dentists to see any additional dental conditions that may not otherwise be readily apparent.

Digital X-rays are certified by the American Dental Association® as a safe and normal part of your dental examination. The amount of radiation caused by a series of dental x rays is no more than you would receive from the sun walking to and from your car.

We suggest visiting our dentists regularly for a dental cleaning and exam to help maintain your oral health and provide you with a clean, bright smile.

Contact our office if you have any questions about our cleaning treatments and schedule an appointment with our friendly hygienists and dentists to get started on improving your dental health today. We look forward to seeing you and helping to provide you with a smile you can be proud of!

West Road Dental recommends using a soft-bristled toothbrush. Choose one with the ADA seal and replace it every three months — or sooner if it frays. Place your toothbrush at a 45-degree angle to your gums. That way, the bristles can reach and clean underneath your gumline. We also endorse the use of Oral B products and sell them here in our office. Oral B products you may find in our office include the IO, the GENIOUS, and the Oral B water pick. Gently move the brush back and forth. Use short, tooth-wide strokes to clean the outer, inner, and chewing surfaces of the teeth, as the ADA recommends. (If you have a lot of gum recession, your dentist may recommend you try the roll technique instead). If you’re using an electric toothbrush, let it do all the work and just lightly glide it over your teeth for a full 30 seconds per quadrant, instead of pushing it against them. To make sure you’re using a gentle grip, try holding your toothbrush in your nondominant hand.

Following this advice can help you keep your teeth clean and your mouth healthy, while eliminating symptoms of tooth sensitivity.
