BOTOX® (onabotulinumtoxinA) is a cosmetic injectable medication used to remove lines and wrinkles on the face. This FDA-approved medication works to temporarily improve the appearance of moderate to severe frown lines and crow’s feet so that you can enjoy a calmer, more alert and more youthful appearance. Our dentists may also recommend BOTOX for non-cosmetic treatments, as it can help treat migraine headaches, TMJ disorders, bruxism and excessive sweating.

BOTOX treatments do not involve any incisions, stitches or surgery. Instead, the medication is injected into the muscles of the treatment area. This makes your treatment quick and comfortable, allowing you to resume your regular daily activities as soon as you leave our office. Our dentists and team may provide ice or a topical numbing cream prior to the BOTOX injection to maximize your comfort during the actual injection process. Your entire treatment will take about 10 to 20 minutes to complete.

BOTOX works by temporarily blocking the nerves in your muscles so that they can no longer move. This reduces muscle activity and relaxes the skin, leading to a reduction in the appearance of lines and wrinkles. You should begin noticing results from your treatment within 24 to 48 hours after receiving it. Results from BOTOX treatment generally last up to four months.
